we LOVE all of you...
even if you all did leave without us getting to say good bye or if we cant remember your name...
it was completely worth the falls and bucks and rears and spooks and broken bones and broken promises and dreaming the dreams that wouldnt ever come true and the tears and the feeling in your chest when you dont see your pony out in the pasture only to get in the barn to find out he got sold and the crazy trail rides and getting screamed at and suffering in 2-point for an hour straight and trying to catch the uncatchable horses in pouring rain and getting bit and getting kicked and trying to bring a rearing horse whos running you over into the barn when its pitch black so you cant see anything and trying to fly spray the kicker who wont stand still and riding a horse for people to see when you know it might be the last time you'll be riding him and never getting a chance to ride a horse because they left too soon and taking a horse you trained to her first horse show only to get sold that same day and when everyone else seemed to have a horse of their own to work on but yours got sold so you had no one... because some how along the way? we learned to ride.
(-happy sigh- this is why i worked at camp for four years straight. and why i'd complain every single day with every breath in my body about how much i hated it, how the office was so retarded, how gene was an asshole, how i hated the heat, how i hated when it rained, and why i'd still go back. every single year, every single day. and its exactly why im going to miss it.
you do it for the horses. for the smiles. for the laughter. for the "humper jumper", "trixie", "porta potty", "spoon", and "cherry chapstick" inside jokes... for that one good lesson out of fifty other bad ones. for that one time everything clicks on that horse thats impossible to ride. for that one perfect lead change. for that smile of the little girl when you help her off the first pony shes ever ridden. for the feeding the horses in the pouring rain while katies in england and the trackers dead so you have to hand feed them all and still have an amazing time doing it. for the times when you call your favorite horses name and they trot over to you. for all the times that mighty sees your car and comes galloping over. for the perfect course. for making an impossible horse look easy. for teaching a kid how to jump and watching her love it and realizing that her smile was the same exact one you had years ago. for getting a run away to stop. mostly.. for the memories you're making. because, the barn feels more like home than your real home does.
i guess all im saying is.. lifes one big dissapointment. you're going to be stressed, you're going to want to cry, you're going to lose what you love and sometimes you wont get to say goodbye. but guess what? its completely worth it in the end. i promise.)
i love you all. both ponies and humans. with all my fucking heart.
